Sure, man, glad to help. Yeah, I was kind of surprised to be having trouble with the controls, too. But like I said, it doesn't happen a lot or really interfere with the gameplay that often.JediTricks wrote: Thanks for the 411 on it. I'm surprised to hear the controls are off in parts, that's kind of the area they always got right before. Is it weird to have a big change in the weapons available?
I kinda would like to see them follow up GOW3 with the ending of GOW1, where Kratos remained the god of war into the 21st century, there are a lot of avenues to bring him back such as your Roman idea.
As for the weapons, it's different but not bad. You pick up different weapons lying around, and if you want to use 'em, cool, if not, no big. I've been enjoying the club, especially fun using 'em to bludgeon the elephant-headed minotaur things you run into early in the game. The only thing is, since "O" activates these weapons, I've gotta get used to using "R1" to open doors and chests and the like. Harder than one would think.
Oh, the magic works differently in this game, too. You get four different "elements" (Fire of Ares, Ice of Posideon, Lightning of Zeus, and Souls of Hades) to add to the Blades of Chaos. Then when you level up the elements with the red orbs, you unlock different moves with each one, and on some of 'em you have to get to level three or four before you get any magic with 'em. Odd way of doing it, but cool in it's way. I guess Kratos can't get too powerful this early on?
I'd dig seeing Kratos in the modern day, too. Got a little bit of that in his appearances in Mortal Kombat, though obviously they didn't spend much time on any kind of story for him in that game. I did manage to use a kind of cool fatality against Kratos in that game in which Freddy dragged him into traffic to be crushed and beheaded by a taxi. In that instance 20th century technology appeared to work against him.
