Soundbite request

Post by Gomess »

Hey, all you people who played video games in the early 90s. Remember when baddies would laugh all like "WOH WOH WOH WOHHH". All muffled and fuzzy, as would befit 8-channel sound? I need some examples of that.

You know what I'm talking about, right? The only laughing 2D baddie I can think of right now is Final Fantasy 6's, but he's all high and fast. I'm looking for a low, slow, inhuman chuckle of evil. Or, just the name of a game that has some; I'll go "buy" it off the internet.

HOH HOH HOORRRRHHHH.

The best examples I can think of is the laugh Ganon does from Zelda II if you get a game over--it's got a big ominous screen with text going "RETURN OF GANON - GAME OVER" and he laughs.

A similar laugh was used for several villains in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, including Bald Bull and I think Mr. Sandman.

Apparently Kung-Fu also had a few of these, one of which sounds precisely like the Punch-Out/Ganon laugh.

I have no life.

What do you need 'em for, anyway?

Animation studio end ident. Y'know, the funny little pictures or animated spots after a show's credits. It's gonna be a mugshot of one of the characters (a 13-year-old girl, worryingly enough considering the sound) laughing a 2-frame laugh.

...And when we actually get this pilot finished, I'll be VERY happy. -_-

Also, if you're totally serious about this pilot thing, maybe you can actually get a good name out in the animation business that we can do Ethereal. >.>

It turned out that Transformers is already copyrighted or something, so rather than spend time hand-drawing a comic using established characters, Claire and I decided to create our own easily animated series. And have teamed up with four other guys (IRL), so far. It's easier, more fun, AND potentially more profitable! Hoorah! =D That said, Claire was tidying her old room today, and found the first few pages of our TF comic; so I might post them for yuks.

And sure, once I'm a big wheel in the animation industry, I'll green light Ethereal Conflammations like a shot. THAT said, I was told today by an employer I should have "more ambition". How can one have more ambition than the entire revival of the British animation industry? Anything else would be selfish.

It's just called Ethereal now, apparently. I've even drawn up character designs at different points! And they're always getting changed and updated, at least according to vague ideas I get.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/ ... kscan2.jpg
Wrecks! Now his chainmail is on the other side and his arm is less screwed up on his forearm, and he has two shields instead of one, and his armour is slightly more conservative in the interest of being easy to take on and off.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/ ... kscan3.jpg
Wrench, who is probably one of the only real original characters we've created. She's a tomgirl who is also the daughter of a king, and she ran away because she's a REBEL DAMMIT. Maybe she's analogous to Iguanus from the original Ethereal RPG, but we never worked out if it was a he or she, did we? And yes, her entire character is basically ripped off from Marle in Chrono Trigger.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/ ... kscan4.jpg
Toka, who is analogous to Torca. He's a spiritualistic shaman-type guy, kinda like Tigatron, actually. He can talk to the animals from the planet Zyurassica, where his ship crashed. He's gay! But it's not overt or a major part of his character arc. It's mostly used as a gag. See, Jhondo MacGuffin (Genericon) likes Wrench and Wrench likes Torca and Torca's gay and has no idea. Hilarity ensues. I'm aware that this is a shitty drawing, it was mostly to figure out his design ideas.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/ ... kscan1.jpg
BOOM HEADSHOTS. Wrecks, Toka, and the guy who is Battle Convoy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/ ... ereal4.jpg
More headshots. The Guy Who Is Battle Convoy and three different interpretations of Toka.

I'm aware that my heads have horrible proportion to my bodies. I'm working on that. >.>

Oh hey, Ethereal stuff. I have a pile of sketches somewhere also, and we have the base plot all fleshed out. It's rather Xyber-9 esque, with the post-apocalyptic factor and the Ancient Civilisation plot template, but with a healthy dose of All Things Awesome and our sense of humour. Plus noir elements and the kind of rewarding fight scenes that make every episode worth catching. Ahem.

The basic idea is to make this as cool as all those shows you hear about that 'sound' utterly fantastic, and you get this great mental image.. Most real shows like that turn out to suck, but not this one! No!

I'd go hunt for my sketches, but Photobucket's down. Sad face.
