The little green Chevy Beat that’s shown up several times on the set of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, has been revealed to be portraying G1er Skids, according to spy photos posted by Jalopnik.com.
Obviously, the color scheme is all wrong for the character, but more interestingly, I find the choice of the Beat as Skids a little strange given that the Beat – a Chevy concept car – is one of a trio (the Beat, Trax, and Groove) where the other 2 actually would suit Skids’ design and colorscheme better.
In my November ’07 trip to the LA Auto Show, I took a few snapshots of Chevy’s trio of concept cars long before the Chevy Trax and Beat were chosen for the Transformers movie. What these spy photos haven’t shown that well is how small these concept cars are, they’re downright “cute”, they’d make great choices for minibot characters. Anyway, I covered this in my blog along with a few photos of the Beat, including a shot of its very concept-y interior. While it’s currently unknown if the original concept car’s interior will be used in the movie, it’s a safe guess to say it’s likely.
