Botbots!

Ancillary, non-main-line stuff. Star Wars TF, Speed Stars, Titanium Series, Robot Heroes, that sort of thing. They're kinda neat, but we all know they're not really that important. Admit it, you know it's true.

Botbots!

Post by Shockwave »

Three words: Ice cream unicorn. If any part of that appeals to you, you need these bots. They're just absolutely ridiculous in the most fantastic way! I love them. They're small, fairly complex for their size and just so awesome. As I mentioned, one is a bowl of ice cream that turns into a flying unicorn. Other alt modes include: a box of nachos, hot dog, lollipop, donut, burger, fudgepop, pizza slice, soda, Gatorade, vr helmet, laptop, chainsaw, bonsai tree, football, hockey puck and roll of toilet paper. And the names are hilarious too. The aforementioned TP is named King Toots and the ice cream unicorn is Unilla Icequeencone. And at 9.99 for a 5 pack an 14.99 for 8, they're cheap and easy to collect a lot of them. Some of them are "blind packed" (I use air quotes because if you look at the instructions, it will tell you which figure is packed), so there does run the risk of duplicates, but so far I've only got one. Anyway, if you're looking for some ridiculous fun for cheap, you could certainly do worse. Highly recommended.

I used to love the Robot Heroes line of tiny Transformers. I seem to recall that 138 Scourge was a fan too, going back to the old BWTF board days. How do these compare? I could get into another line of small, fun TFs.

Robot heroes was the cutsified versions of legacy characters (I recently bought the Grimlock/Shockwave two pack). They were cool little versions but they didn't transform. These are smaller, and probably more comparable to Bot Shots which I think was more of a game. But yeah, no legacy characters here, they're all new and all ridiculous. ANYTHING can be a transformer, from a chainsaw to a pizza. And for as small as they are, they do manage some interesting transformations. Paint apps on them have all been spot on as well.

I like Botbots a lot more than any other attempt at this premise.

That said, I only have picked up a single 5-pack, they've satisfied me so far.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

The bathroom themed pack with a cell-phone makes me laugh.

Grabbed a few packs of these earlier this week.

Many of the figures are hindered by the grade of plastic. (I cannot actually transform the spray paint guy, because the parts stick too much.) But, when they work, they work very nicely. (The game controller and fitness watch are amazing.)

This line also inspires me to do more customizing.
