While looking for information on "Power of the Primes" Dinobots, I found a picture of an alternate configuration for Volcanicus.

The idea is to build a combiner using Grimlock and two limbs. Start with the standard torso mode, and attach the legs as normal. Then, unfold the standard robot arms. Attach the merge hands either over the hands or on the wrists. The result looks better than you might expect. (The biggest problem is the gaps on the chest, which are visible on the standard combination mode.)

It is also possible to use the tyrannosaur head for this merge form.


Now, which two limbs would you use for this?

Slag and Snarl. Also, the combined mode feet can be used to fill in the torso and between all 5, you wind up with enough to have both feet and torso fill.

The feet fill out the torso on the side. The gaps that bother me are the gaps on the combiner chest (or Grimlock's shoulders). Those cannot be filled.

Yeah, it's a gappy torso, they were too cheap on Grimlock.

Slag and Snarl are the right call, btw. They offer the best limb diversity and strength.

Slag is in most of the two-limb configurations that I have come up with.

Slag/Snarl: evokes Generation 2.

Slag/Sludge: wave 1 Dinobots.

Slag/Swoop: Animated, which itself used the two characters that had the most chance to stand out.

Snarl/Swoop: wave 2 Dinobots.
