To be fair though, Stewart didn't do any of that; the powers and costume and name were literally assigned to him.

I've always been fine with superheroes on teams calling each other by their real names in-fiction. It communicates a sense of camaraderie, familiarity.
What bothers me is when the team is inconsistent about it. When everyone is calling eachother "Wolverine" or "Cyclops" and then someone shouts out "Jean Gray" and I'm like "motherfucker why don't you yell your social security number while you're at it!".

Jean doesn't even have a code name though, so she's screwed on that one.

Well, she had 'Marvel Girl', but outgrew it, apparently.
