That's the thing, though, this is One Toy, out of easily two dozen or so in this line, which is easily the line that is 'most' geared to collectors and fans...probably ever. (I'm counting the original Classics line in with this, too, I suppose.) And then right down the line, in the summer, we have The Movie again, with its big-budget mainstreamy goodness. You can bet there won't be any jAaM references *there,* since that's the exact opposite of Hasbro's MO there.

The only line that seems to be sustainable with just Otaku support is "GI Joe", ironically enough. And, Hasbro is getting visibly antsy about that, cutting collector appeal. "Indiana Jones", being quaint 20 years ago and dated now, only had adult appeal, and KB is having trouble getting ride of those toys at "everything must go" prices. And, Hotshot is supposed to be the kid, (aka "new fan") friendly character.

The fans had their nostalgia-fest with "Titaniums". And, we all remember how well that worked.

I'm not asking for 25A Hot Shot to come complete with a jAaM jar and a printing of the comic itself, I just think it would be nice for Hasbro to stick a cute little throwaway joke on the back of the box somewhere (though how they would do such a thing, I'm unsure of). It wouldn't affect the toy at all, just something for the fans to chuckle at, y'know? I mean, if Hasbro can paint Monzo's birthday on the side of Onslaught and base Acid Storm's entire character on the fan, then I'd think it wouldn't be too much to ask for them to make a passing reference to one of the fandom's most endearing in-jokes. And like I said, what harm would there be in it?

I'm still pissy that it's Monzo's birthday on ClaSlaught and not, say, a combination of 6 and 86. 686! That's all it would have taken, you guys!

We are not big enough to warrant that kind of homage. Truth be told, I think the fact Monzo's *name* is on the side of Onslaught's vehicle form is troublesome.

-notes that kills troop building unless someone wants to buff off the name.

Who the hell would troop-build Onslaught? There's no precedent for that at all.

ME. I WOULD TROOP BUILD ONSLAUGHT.

Er, ahem.

If anything, having Monzo's name printed on Onslaught is more problematic because Monzo got it from Weirdwolf's Headmaster. Why haven't I seen pics of ClaWeirdwolf asking ClaSlaught about this yet?

I was thinking somebody might want to have a line of SWAT vehicles, and have Onslaught "inflitrate" them. Not likely, but hey, it could happen.

There's nothing inherently wrong with Hot Shot, but he basically is just a cliche, "Bumblebee + Hot Rod = new character kids can love!" Still, I'm looking forward to the new Universe figure because I did like the idea behind the original toy, it was just the piss poor execution I didn't like. Then again, this new figure doesn't seem to have his big shoulder gun, which is a shame, there were a few ideas to be mined out of that (I wanted it to be removable, become a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher).

As for jAam, that is not a reference anyone outside of a handful of fans are actually going to get, it was from a very small subset of dedicated fans.
